Microsoft and Google are phasing out Basic Authentication (username + password) for Modern Authentication (OAuth2). These changes will require setting up version 1.17+, upgrading to PHP 8.0-8.2, and installing the OAuth2 Plugin which will eliminate the need to store email passwords locally and will instead redirect you directly to the provider to login. Detailed guides for setting up the plugin can be found on our documentation website.
In order to use Modern Authentication for emails, you must use the OAuth2 Plugin. Please note that this version requires PHP 8.0-8.2.
