osTicket v1.17 Available
We have officially released the first stable version of osTicket v1.17! This version of osTicket includes important features that may need to be set up in order to ensure emails in your helpdesk continue to work properly.
!!IMPORTANT!!
Microsoft and Google are phasing out Basic Authentication (username + password) for Modern Authentication (OAuth2). These changes will require setting up version 1.17+, upgrading to PHP 8.x, and installing the OAuth2 Plugin which will eliminate the need to store the password locally and will instead redirect you directly to the provider to login. Detailed guides for setting up the plugin can be found on our documentation website.
If your helpdesk is using the ‘Attachments in Amazon S3‘ plugin, you will need to download the latest plugin and resave your credentials.
Requirements
In order to use Modern Authentication for emails, you must use the OAuth2 Plugin. Please note that this version requires PHP 8.0.x.
We have provided guides for setting up OAuth Authorization as well as OAuth Authentication on our documentation website. We will soon have a video tutorial for setting up OAuth, so be on the lookout. We have focused our testing on using OAuth with Outlook and Gmail.
Upgrading Your Testing Helpdesk
Note: Before upgrading osTicket, be sure to check your PHP version to make sure it is compatible. osTicket v1.17 requires PHP 8.x.
You can check out the upgrade guide for complete instructions on how to upgrade your helpdesk. If you are installing osTicket for the first time, then simply download osTicket and follow the installation guide.
Please be sure to upgrade your plugins as well as any language packs you have installed.
Note: You will need to download the OAuth2 Plugin in order to use modern authentication.
If maintaining your osTicket installation is becoming daunting, we would encourage you to consider osTicket as a hosted service – we can even import data from your current installation.
