osTicket v1.17.1 Available
osTicket v1.17.1 has been released and includes important fixes that you should make sure are added to your helpdesk!
For a complete list of improvements, fixes, and changes please check our release notes.
!!IMPORTANT!!
Microsoft and Google are phasing out Basic Authentication (username + password) for Modern Authentication (OAuth2). These changes will require setting up version 1.17+, upgrading to PHP 8.x, and installing the OAuth2 Plugin which will eliminate the need to store email passwords locally and will instead redirect you directly to the provider to login. Detailed guides for setting up the plugin can be found on our documentation website.
Requirements
In order to use Modern Authentication for emails, you must use the OAuth2 Plugin. Please note that this version requires PHP 8.x.
We have provided guides for setting up OAuth Authorization as well as OAuth Authentication on our documentation website.
Upgrading Your Testing Helpdesk

Note: You will need to download the OAuth2 Plugin in order to use modern authentication.
If maintaining your osTicket installation is becoming daunting, we would encourage you to consider osTicket as a hosted service – we can even import data from your current installation. With SupportSystem’s turnkey infrastructure, you get osTicket at its best, leaving you free to focus on your customers without the burden of making sure the application is stable, maintained, and secure.
Maintenance Releases
For osTicket users who are unable or unwilling to upgrade, we highly recommend upgrading to the 1.16.4 maintenance release, v1.16.4. These new maintenance releases address security vulnerabilities affecting prior releases. These fixes have also been integrated into v1.17.1.
