Ok, i've sifted thru just about all the code and I cant really see what the problem is here.

My install has been working like a dream for a while now, after I solved my own problems with getting into the admin section. However earlier today for no apparent reason we can no longer login to the normal section as an end user to check the status of their own opened tickets. So this is what happens now;

User opens ticket. They get email. They click on link in email to view status. support/view.php opens with the users email and ticket id number in the login boxes. They click view. view.php reloads with the login box, now blank, and there is no $_POST info whatsoever. Its almost like when you click on the view status button it isnt actually posting the data to the web page, altho i tested this with a simple bit of php echoing the $_POST instead of loading the login box and that worked. This would suggest to me that somehting is actually wrong with the code, somewhere, but I have changed nothing in the code or the server, so maybe its session management or..... well I don't know!

And here was me thinking I'd left php code behind me with my last job...... :D

ok, just a quick update, the reason i could find no wrong code..... its not the code!

A new user (or rather I used a different email address) worked perfectly. This must be a session management thing.

ok, this is really frustrating. it works for a day then suddenly this problem comes back! which is what makes me think its a session thing.

Does anyone have any ideas here? I've coded PHP & other languages for donkeys years, but I've never hosted a site on my own server, so I'm unsure of perhaps I've got a setting wrong in php.ini or something.

PM me a page with phpinfo(); on it, and I'll compare it to one of mine that works.

see it only happens to some users and not others....

OK, will do...

Okay. Try this in one htacces file

.htaccess

php_value session.save_path "/tmp"

Place file in your osticket directory :)

Right ok, the session file isnt being created with all the correct details in it! it only has is;
TZ_OFFSET|s:3:"0.0";daylight|b:1;
Surely it should have all the user data so that it passes the logon test? I Still think this is a session setup problem in my php.ini can anyone send me a windows based php.ini for comparison?

one last update for today, the reason the above isnt in the session is obviously because its not getting far enough to add it in. done a few tests and it is falling over, for whatever reason, in login.php, around lone 26. where $_POST['lemail'] & lticket are showing as empty. So somewhere between hitting View Status and that line, they are emptied, for whatever reason...

Any ideas? Someone must have some idea, i really like this software and want to put it live asap.

Fixty McFix Fixed.

I got hold of a php.ini file, albeit from a UNIX server, but still. I changed a load of settings to match, and Bob is most definitely most my uncle, it works!
