Ok, this is not rocket science.
I downloaded the new RC3 Patch for upgrading from 1.6 RC2 (my present version) to 1.6 RC3. The file was "osticket_1.6rc2-rc3", then decommpressed.

I followed the de(in)structions, first taking the system offline, then uploading just the files in the "upload" directory, overwriting my RC2 dir structure. I confirmed that the files were indeed overwritten by checking their date & time. I then renamed config.inc to ostconfig.inc. Simple enough.

So, I log in and bring the system back online, but then notice the version still displays "System Preferences and Settings (v1.6 RC2)" at the top of the Admin Panel.

The only place I can find any reference to version is in the database: ost_config, ostversion.

Any idear's why this does not change?

Ignore the version number for now!

That's kinda what I fingered.
I suppose I could change the 2 to a 3 in the database without the script falling apart, right? ;)

Yes you can change it. It is not really used at the moment. Future upgrades will ship with SQL statements/scripts to update the tables.

Yup, it worked. At least now I'll know what version I am at...
