The above error occurs on setting up IMAP/POP.

I have been trying to use OS ticket as it looks so promising but cannot get past this error. I have not seen a solution in the forums for this? My Hosting provider has no idea either. I really would like to start testing this system but cannot because I simply cannot get past this issue.

Anybody with words of wisdom?

Thanks a lot

I do not have a solution, but some info on what the problem is.
It is specific to your (and my) server environment, typically a shared host with lots of stuff going on, and a bug in the imap php module...

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=478193

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=710876

These posts describe the problem exactly, but I have yet to find a solution or even a work-around. Please can someone maybe offer an alternative to the php_imap extension that would avoid this problem... and how such a replacement could be implimented on a shared linux apache server?

I am not aware of any work around until the maintainers of php_imap update and fix their stuff. Alternatively moving to a different host would also fix the issue, as it sounds like your shared hosting solution is... very busy.
