Would it be possible to expand the knowledge base to make it publicly visible? At least part of it?

I was thinking about having a check box when you create an internal knowledge base article that says, “make public”. Then on the support page have an option for view/search our knowledge base. Only the articles the admin(s) said are public would show up on this page.

To take it one step further, if the article is public, when a staff member uses a canned response from the knowledge base it would include a link to the knowledge base article as well as the text.

Thank you again,
Ben

Is there already a knowledge base somewhere in there?

thats for the staff to post quick responces to known issues
but a knowledge base for the clients is a great idea

I'm for this as well. A client knowledge base would certianly be useful. Although one could say, why not just build a forums to support this kind of thing, not that I would want to.

I've noticed some trouble ticket systems even offering a "support wizard" that can troubleshoot basic support issues in a step by step wizard.

KBs or FAQs are common.
Many systems make a support request go through and at least look at the optional KB Q&As or FAQs before submitting a request that gets sent to staff.
Another option is for an automatic search of the subject line into the KB return a default list of Answers to questions. Then the consumer/user may answer his own question before using the option to 'Submit Anyway'.
