Can anyone please enlightem me about the API in osTicket. I see the feature to add a password for the API but don't see any documentation on exactly how the API works. I know what an API is, btw.

osTicket API is mainly used for remote piping or/and remote cron job. See http://osticket.com/wiki/Email_Settings
In the future we plan on expanding it to support other hosts of web service features.
