I just installed oSTicket for my website, and so far it's awesome. One thing I'm having issues with is Support E-Mail Notification.
As it sits right now, if someone submits a ticket, I don't know it until I check the admin panel. I want to get an E-Mail letting me know I have a ticket waiting. Is there some setting I'm missing? Or some coding I have to change? (Be gentle, still learning PHP)
Thanks!
Hi,
Glad you like it.
Did you see the section "Alerts & Notices" in the Admin Panel?
Or else you will need to activate email piping (see also http://www.osticket.com/wiki/ and try searching the forums)

Nope, no Alerts and Notices. I don't see E-Mail piping either. I'll check out that Wiki you linked. Thanks!

What version are you using? In osTicket 1.6 RC4 it looks like this:

Ah, Looks like I'm using an Older Version.
I'll download 1.6 and install that. (Relied on my Providers Cpanel to be more up to date...)

So, I downloaded 1.6, installed it, configured it... and....it blew up my computer. No really, we're talking smoke and flames...
Seriously, thanks for making this script guys. Works totally how I'd hoped. I want my visitors to not have to register for anything, but at the same time don't want to have to moderate forums, and plan on having several people trying to assist customers once we're up and running. OSTicket looks to be the answer to that.
Only thing I noticed, upon testing, was that Yahoo doesn't seem to like to get emails from my website email address... But that sounds like Yahoo's problem, not ostickets. My work email got my test just fine. AND my Alerts come to my mailbox now. Thanks for all the help! :)
Now, if I could only find some themes for the system.... It's off to code I go...It's off to code I go... Hi ho a merry oh, it's off to code I go.....
You are a very happy user...
Anyway I believe there are 2 custom themes available at the moment (http://www.osticket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1390 and http://www.osticket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1124).

I try to be... :)
Thanks for the links. I'm actually going to use the Blue theme for now, until I can edit the CSS a little more to my liking. :)

First, let me say I love OSTicket!
We have things 99 percent where we want them in the setup. Folks receive an email with their ticket number just fine.
I can not get the feature to send me an email alerting me that a new ticket has been submitted.
Is their anyone who can sort of give me any tips - - - I do use an email address via my web site and I have the POP 3 settings entered correctly but still do not get alerts.
Thanks in advance,
Chad

Well, I figured out I was running an older version. If you're not running 1.6, go download it. Loads more features.
If you are/once you download it, here's what you do:
Log into your Admin Panel
On the first default page that loads (Should be the PREFERENCES tab), Scroll down to the ALERTS AND NOTICES section (Screenshot posted above) it's the LAST section on that page.
Enable whatever notifications you want. :)
Good Luck!

I am running v1.6 RC4 and have everything enabled.
I get no errors when I configured the POP settings and the email account tests fine when sending test emails from other working email accounts.
I simply get nothing when it comes to new ticket alerts.

I gave up and created a Gmail account to use - I am guessing the POP3 issues were on the side of my web host (BellSouth/AT&T). We don't use cPanel so I don't have access to many features.

Ah, i see now. The POP3 Stuff, I'm not too familiar with, as I simply use G-Mail, and have that Gmail account forward to my personal E-Mail. I however do have Cpanel access on my host, so I have E-Mail set up through there as well.
If you don't mind, E-Mail me who your web host is? My e-mail is xxfigmentxx the little at symbol gmail dot com (sorry, I try REAL hard to avoid the spam bots)
My host is INCREDIBLE and they have a fall special running right now. Unlimited Bandwidth, unlimited storage for $4.95/month (You have to sign up and pay for at least a year, but hey. It's $4.95/month) Plus they include a free domain name for the life of your account. if you're interested, Shoot me an E-Mail. And I won't lie, of course I get affiliate cash for referring people. But I personally use them myself as well. I've been with em for over a year now. My account was about 2 months from being due again when they started the fall special. It's supposed to be for new accounts only. But they went ahead and let me "upgrade" my current account. I was stoked.
Anyway, if you're interested, shoot me an Email. They offer full Cpanel/Domain name access, Unlimited everything just about, $700 in software (95% of it you won't use...But eh) Anyway, just email me if you want. lol Sorry, I'm rambling

Government entity locked into a contract with AT&T (we bundle more than just web hosting so I am stuck with who I have).
The gmail is working for us and it is not an email we broadcast the address out really so we are ok.

How did you all get the inbound to work. It keeps telling me that I need to setup IMAP in PHP, but as a newbie to PHP, I do not understand what it is talking about.
Please help!

Using Gmail was easy, just plug in the address basically.
So far things are working without fail for us :) .

Yea, I myself just plugged in my email address as well. If you don't check your e-mail through a program such as Outlook, POP3 Shouldn't matter, just ignore all that and use whatever default email you plugged in.

I have all options check for new ticket alerts and only the admin gets the alert. I have created departments and added members to the department. I have set some as manager of the department and some as staff. still only the admin gets the alert.
Can anyone shed some light on why this is happening? What might I be missing?

I think you have checked the the "Vacation Mode" option. Go to staff and edit each staff members staus as active and vacation mode button disabled. Hope this would help you.

Hello,
This is my first post on this forum, Hope to get resolved my problem. :)
I am unable to get notification. I have checked all the resolution here presented but no success.
I installed osTicket over Xamp installed on Win XP. Everything is working fine, just notification is not triggering.
Your early response is highly awaited please.
Kindest regards.
