OK, now I may be thick about this, but is there a way to configure osTicket so that the front page gives direct access to the knowledge base? In other words, I'd like to have a link on the front page which allows users to browse through the KB for answers before submitting an issue, rather than have them submit the issue, and have us respond w/one of the canned responses out of the KB.

Currently this is not a default feature. It has been suggested here http://osticket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23 and http://osticket.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3014.
And Peter (The lead osTicket developer) has said this about it:
Most of the features you mentioned are already on todo list and/or in various stages of development. Any development help you can provide would be appreciated.
