The only limitation is the space and power of your server ;-)I only remember that people that are storing attachments in the database later switch to the filesystem plugin because when the database growths the access could slow down. And I have heard from installations with a lots of agents who are accessing the system simultaneously can also slow down the access too. But I think this is normal. Bigger installations or environments need often special optimizations to avoid bottle necks.
