osTicket not able to access folder in Mailbox

Hi everyone,

I am setting up email in osTicket so that emails can be retrieved automatically. Fetching works properly but I am facing these issues:

1. a. Sometimes the fetching works and I can see the new ticket.
b. sometimes the email is deleted from mail box (as I have selected "Delete fetched emails") but no ticket is created.
c. Sometimes the ticket is created and I can see it in database but it is not automatically assigned to anyone although a user is selected for Auto-assign in HelpTopics.

2. I cannot setup "Move to" for fetched emails in Mail Account page. When I enter the folder name and click on save, it gives error "Invalid or unknown archive folder!" and " Invalid or unknown mail folder! >> Mailbox is empty" errors. I created the folder from Horde but for some reason osTicket is not able to access that foldder i guess. This is when Protocol is POP.

3. If I select IMAP and click on save, I get:
Warning: imap_open() [function.imap-open]: Couldn't open stream {localhost:110/imap/novalidate-cert}INBOX in /home/admin/lifeemail.com/support/include/class.mailfetch.php on line 130 on top of the page and below in the settings table i get this in red: [CLOSED] IMAP connection broken (server response)

I am using RC3.

Thank you for your time...

  • I have not found a solution to these problems yet. No answers from anyone!? :(
  • I'm facing the same problem with 1.7 RC5.

Fetching mails works based on a secured POP connection and an external Cronjob, however moving fetched mails doesn't.

My hoster also took a look at the problem but coulnd't find a solution. The name of the folder is fetched, so they tried

    fetched
    .fetched
    INBOX.fetched

But nothing helps. Any ideas where I'm doing wrong?
  • Sounds like an issue for the devs. Have you posted a bug report over on github?
  • Thanks for the reply.

In fact no. This is such a basic feature that I thought it would be some mistake I do. Otherwise others would already have noticed it?!

Shall I post it as a bug?
  • Hi,

I posted a bug report more then a week ago but unfortunately there is no reaction at all.

So, does perhaps anybody else have an idea, how to fix this? Or even what causes the problem?

    Thanks!
    Kind regards,
    Sithlord
  • I found a solution thats fine for me.
I switched from POP3 to IMAP and used the sytax INBOX.yourmailfolder

That seems to work. So hopefully this will be helpfull for others, too.

However as soon as I find an alternative I will quit osTicket and I can only higly recommend anybody who is looking for a trouble ticket system to NOT use osTicket as the community is too small and the developers behind it are quite unreliable. But you need reliability when it comes to business.

    Kind regards
    Sithlord
  • I too have got this working with IMAP but I didn't bother creating the new folder in the web server. I simply told osticket to move to a folder named 'read' and a few minutes later there it was. Very clever!
  • Just installed this today, and am finding it alarming that
    1. what the developers recommend (Moving fetched emails to a backup folder is highly recommended.) Is not possible (Invalid or unknown mail folder! >> )

    2. It wasn't until just now when I came to post my question that I discovered this problem was reported here in DECEMBER and besides helpful workarounds by other users, the creators of this code have been silent.

Don't know if this bug and the resulting neglect is a trick to get people to use their commercial support, or if their paid support is equally lacking. At any rate, let the buyer beware.

I've been doing a lot of work with the Whole IMAP thing... on your first item, one way is to test it in telnet to see if you're calling the right mailbox.

it could be something as simple as it being a sub-folder under your inbox which would make it INBOX/foldername

If you do telnet list it may help you see what it's seeing ..

    TELNET hostname 143

    ? LOGIN username password
    or
    ? LOGIN domain/username password
    or
    ? LOGIN domain/username/alise password

    ? LIST "" "*"

    (You need the question marks)

You should get a list of how your folders are mapped out.

We are processing currently about 300 tickets / day and it seems rather stable, I guess time will tell.

    P.S

You can't expect perfection in a free software, because you can't expect it in a pay software. Active releases, rather active community, open source ... Can't go too wrong :)

    @billwill,

Thank you for your feedback and your opinion. However I feel the need to add the following:

The "recommendation" to move emails to another folder is an IMAP feature.
While you are correct that the issue of "Move to: FOLDER" using POP was indeed reported in December regarding 1.7RC2 (release candidate 2), as this thread indicates (see first post), the post office protocol (POP) has never supported that capability. POP does not support server side folders.

I recommend that if you are using IMAP that you follow jasonberresford's advice. Other wise that radial feature is not for you, and you shouldn't use it. I will also say that the devs should have marked that radial option as (IMAP only).
  • Hi,
I am getting the below errors for both Imap and smtp configuration.I Configured 3 mails and they are working fine, but when i am trying to configure an other mail i am getting the below errors.

authentication failure [SMTP: Invalid response code received from server (code: 535, response: 5.7.0 (#AUTH012) Incorrect username or password.)]
For the smtp configuration i have given proper credintials only.
Can anyone help on this, where i need to check. I did google completely, but not able to find any solution.

  • Please start your own thread, not revive threads from 2012 for release candidate version that you are not running.

Closing Zombie head with a head shot.
