I agree with you regarding the fact that you should install/configure everything yourself, but the reason I mentioned it, was exactly that it's easy / comfortable and nearly everyone can setup such packages with hundreds of tutorials in the web ;)
Beside, it's a nice system from the guys of Redmond and not much more complex - recently stumbled across the Windows Web Platform Installer when I tested WebMatrix. Really liked it, but I ended up with (Adobe) Brackets as Code Editor (free as well) since it has more plugins (e.g. git integration, auto-complete of code, cross-file quick-edit feature ...) etc., but enough of it and sorry for drifting away / off topic stuff ;)
