We have solved the problem which was caused by using the "pipe.php" file used on the "6.1 ST" version and not that from the "1.9.3" version. We have re-instated this file in "osticket/api" and all works well. What we are doing is as follows.
* The email to the support email address arrives at the company gateway
* The email address is validated against a list of customer emails
* If it is an email from a valid customer it is relayed to the osTicket server via a Postfix transport rule
* The email arrives at osTicket Postfix server where a Postfix service pipes the email to the ‘pipe.php’ script - /osticket/api/pipe.php
